  • Fall Holiday: Classes will be held on October 6, which was scheduled to be a Fall Holiday for the traditional undergraduate program. This will allow us to catch up on classes cancelled Friday, Sept. 1, during the power outage.
     
  • Art History Presentation: News from the Front: Winslow Homer, Race and the Civil War, with renowned art historian Frances K. Pohl, Tues., Oct. 3, 7pm, Lundring Events Center. Admission is free.

  • Staff and Faculty Lunch, Wed., Oct. 4, 11am - 1pm, in the reserved area in the UPSTAIRS Ullman Dining Commons. The discounted price of $8 + tax includes all menu options offered in the Dining Commons.

  • Academic Difficulty Notices (ADNs) for Traditional Undergraduates: The official reporting period for ADNs closes this Fri., Oct. 6. Please submit unsatisfactory grades for your students who are earning a C- or below through WebAdvisor by this date. Academic Services will reach out to these students and offer support until the last day to withdraw with a "W" (Nov. 3).   • The Autism and Communication Center presents Bring Your Own Brain (BYOB): A Day of Innovative Solutions for ASD, Sat., Oct. 7, 9am, Swenson 101. Admission is free.
     
  • Community Leaders Association (CLA) Grant Proposals for Spring '18 awards due Wed., Nov. 1. The CLA has funds available to support faculty in engaging within the community. Appropriate proposals include cultural events, seminars, outreach efforts, and community-based research. Click here to view a rubric that clarifies selection criteria for this competitive application. Funding is generally provided up to $2,500; to be expended by the following fiscal year end. The proposal request form can be found on the Academic Affairs Grant Funding website under Community Leaders Association Grants.   • Founders Day Convocation, Fri., Oct. 13, 10:15am, Samuelson Chapel. Faculty will wear their regalia and meet at the Luther Statue at 10:00am in order to process. If you rented regalia from the bookstore for Opening Convocation, you can check out this regalia again at no additional cost. If you are teaching during this time, you are welcome to bring your class. The program includes installation of the Board of Regents, guest speaker Rev. Dr. Kirsi Stjerna (PLTS), presentation of the Outstanding Alumni Award to Michael Adinew '94 and presentation of the Christus Award to Rev. Frank Nausin '70. In this workshop, the Writing Center will provide strategies for creating professional and effective writing for graduate school and beyond. Participants will get tips on formalizing writing, revising grammar, creating objective prose, and much more. All graduate and bachelor’s degree for professionals students, faculty, staff, and alumni are welcome to attend. There will be pizza lunch included!
