• 2023 Winter Faculty Retreat, "Meaningfully teaching and reaching today's students with intersecting identities," featuring keynote speaker Genevieve Flores-Haro, Associate Director for the Mixteco/Indigena Community Organizing Project (MICOP), a nonprofit serving the indigenous migrant community in California’s Central Coast, Tues., Jan. 17, 9am-2pm, Soiland Arena, with coffee and camaraderie starting at 8:30am. • ITS will be performing the following classroom technology refreshes in the coming weeks:
• Jan. 3-11; Swenson Center for Social and Behavioral Sciences, all classrooms. Winter term classes scheduled in Swenson during this time have been moved to other locations on campus for the week.
   
• Summer Professional Development Opportunity: Washington, DC. Faculty and staff interested in pursuing professional goals while living in Washington, DC for a two-week period between May-August 2023 are invited to submit an application to the Lutheran College Washington Semester Summer Research Program. Applicants who are accepted only pay $200 for two weeks of accommodations. Perhaps you wish to incorporate course content related to DC into your syllabus, conduct research in the area, or create experiential opportunities for students? Application deadline is March 15. • Fulbright-Hays Faculty/Administrator Seminar Abroad: Mexico: Post-secondary faculty and administrators (with preference for the Arts, Humanities, or Social Sciences) are invited to apply for the July 2023 seminar abroad program for four weeks in Mexico. The program provides an in-depth exploration of a country to improve understanding and knowledge of the peoples and cultures. Following the seminar experience, participants develop and share a curriculum project to provide information about the selected country with one's local community in the USA. Applications are due February 9, 2023. • Traveling for Business? Traditional Travel Reminder: Cal Lutheran remains in our standard operational mode of Traditional Travel status (see the university’s Travel Policy and Travel and Entertainment Expense Policy for general guidelines). In most cases, traditional travel is approved through one's immediate supervisor (for faculty and staff) or authorized university representative (for students). All students traveling beyond 200 miles from their home campus, and all faculty and staff traveling with students beyond 200 miles of their home campus or traveling internationally on a university-sponsored activity, should register their travel through the Travel Registry. A Travel Petition is still required for all university-sponsored travel to high-risk destinations. Please contact travelreview@callutheran.edu if you have any questions. 
   
• Cal Lutheran’s Fifty and Better (FAB) January Lectures and Winter Session: Registration for the Fifty and Better program’s January Lectures (January 6-13) and Winter Session (January 17-March 3) is open! Join them in early 2023 for six-week courses and independent and two-part lectures on various topics, including the women in country music, English architecture and design, the art of Rembrandt and the Northern Baroque, media and democracy, and more! • Festival of Scholars: The 2023 Festival of Scholars will be held during the week of April 24-28, 2023. • Save the Date: Harold Stoner Clark Lecture Series presents Sean A. Valles, PhD, Associate Professor and Director of the Michigan State University Center for Bioethics and Social Justice, speaking on "The Ethical and Public Health implications of Mass Incarceration and Housing (In)Security,” Tues., Feb. 21 in Samuelson Chapel.
