  • Faculty Meeting, TODAY, Mon., Oct. 9, 4 - 6pm, Swenson 101, with refreshments in the Pamela M. Jolicoeur Gallery beginning at 3:40pm.
     
  • Staff and Faculty Lunch, Wed., Oct. 11, 11am - 1pm, in the reserved area in the UPSTAIRS Ullman Dining Commons. The discounted price of $8 + tax includes all menu options offered in the Dining Commons.
     
  • Entrepreneur Speaker Series presents Jennifer Buzza, VP & Co-Founder WebClio, Wed., Oct. 11, 6-8pm, Westlake Center. Admission is free, but registration is required as seating is limited.
     
  • International Film Festival presents The Grandmaster (2013), Wed., Oct. 11, 7pm (doors open 6:30pm), AMC Thousand Oaks 14 (formerly Muvico) at the Oaks Mall. Admission is free.

  • University Chapel, Thurs., Oct. 12, 11:25am, Samuelson Chapel.  Sergio Galvez (Director, Upward Bound) will be speaking.
     
  • Center for Teaching and Learning's Lunch Series, Thurs., Oct. 12, 12:15pm, Nygreen 5.  Natalina Parker (Learning Technology Support Specialist) will speak on "Zoom: You'll like it." Lunch will be served. If you would like to propose a topic or lead a session, please contact Joan Wines at wines@callutheran.edu.
     
  • Founders Day Convocation, Fri., Oct. 13, 10:15am, Samuelson Chapel. Faculty will wear their regalia and meet at the Luther Statue at 10:00am in order to process. If you rented regalia from the bookstore for Opening Convocation, you can check out this regalia again at no additional cost. If you are teaching during this time, you are welcome to bring your class. The program includes installation of the Board of Regents, guest speaker Rev. Dr. Kirsi Stjerna (PLTS), presentation of the Outstanding Alumni Award to Michael Adinew '94 and presentation of the Christus Award to Rev. Frank Nausin '70. Please RSVP to acaffairs@callutheran.edu so that we can reserve enough pews for faculty in the Chapel.

  • Community Leaders Association (CLA) Grant Proposals for Spring '18 awards due Wed., Nov. 1. The CLA has funds available to support faculty in engaging within the community. Appropriate proposals include cultural events, seminars, outreach efforts, and community-based research. Click here to view a rubric that clarifies selection criteria for this competitive application. Funding is generally provided up to $2,500; to be expended by the following fiscal year end. The proposal request form can be found on the Academic Affairs Grant Funding website under Community Leaders Association Grants.   • Writing Center Workshop "How to Write for Graduate School": Mon., Oct. 16, 12-1pm, Writing Center. In this workshop, the Writing Center will provide strategies for creating professional and effective writing for graduate school and beyond. Participants will get tips on formalizing writing, revising grammar, creating objective prose, and much more. All graduate and bachelor’s degree for professionals students, faculty, staff, and alumni are welcome to attend. There will be pizza lunch included!
