Spotlight

 

  • Honors Convocation, Tues., Apr. 24, 11:15am, Samuelson Chapel.  Note: We will be on Convocation Schedule with classes ending at 11:00am and resuming at12:40pm. Outstanding Young Alumni Award Recipient, Christopher Kajtor '07, MPPA '10, will give the keynote address, faculty receiving promotion and/or tenure in Fall 2018 will be recognized, and the President's Award for Teaching Excellence recipient will be announced. Regalia will NOT be worn and faculty will not be processing. Faculty will have reserved seating on the right side of the Chapel. Please arrive early, as reserved seats will be released 5 minutes before the Convocation begins.

  • Staff and Faculty Lunch, Wed., Apr. 4, 11am - 1pm, reserved area in the UPSTAIRSUllman Dining Commons. The discounted price of $8 + tax includes all menu options offered in the Dining Commons.

  • Center for Teaching and Learning's Lunch Series, Thurs., Apr. 5, 12:15pm, Hum 124.  Joan Wines will speak on "10 Most Consistent Student Complaints and What Profs Can Do about Them."   • Have you published a book or illustrated a work during the past year that will be published by April 2, 2018? Please let us know by Thurs., Apr. 5 so that we can recognize you at the Provost’s Reception for faculty authors and grant recipients, which will be held Tues., Apr. 24, at 5 pm in the William Rolland Gallery of Fine Art. Please email Roni Hooper at RHooper@CalLutheran.edu with a brief synopsis of your published book or illustrated work and the date of publication. If you have a photo file of your book cover, please forward that as well.  Thank you.
     
  • CalLuPaloozaFri., Apr. 6, 6pm, Kingsmen Park. This annual concert in the park showcases the talent and creativity of students in the music production program. Everyone is welcome. Admission is free.
     
  • Arete Vocal Ensemble presents a Centennial Tribute to Leonard Bernstein (Part 2),Sun., Apr. 8, 2pm, Samuelson Chapel. Wyant Morton conducts. Tickets are $20 at the door or $15 if purchased online in advance.
     
  • The Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences announces the appointments of the inaugural group of Associate Deans in the College, and the new Director of First Year Seminar. Individually, their positions speak to both new responsibilities and enduring values and priorities for the College. Each Associate Dean will serve as part of the College’s Administrative Leadership Team. Collectively, these appointments symbolize a strong commitment to ensuring new avenues for collaboration, development and discovery, and inclusion. After intense search processes that included nominations, applications, and interviews, the Dean is excited to announce the following appointments (click on the title for a description of the position):

  • Don’t Cancel That Class – The Division of Student Affairs is pleased to offer Don’t Cancel That Class to faculty members who may be away for conference travel, meetings, etc.  You may request a Student Affairs staff member to present on a particular topic (e.g., job interview skills, dealing with test anxiety, financial literacy, etc.) or welcome them to present on the topic of their choice.  To make arrangements for an upcoming class, please contact Senior Coordinator for Residence Life and Student Conduct, Caitlin Hodges at hodges@callutheran.edu.
