Announcements for the week of January 14, 2019

Spotlight

  • The Hugh and Hazel Darling Foundation of Los Angeles recently announced a generous $500,000 gift to the Cal Lutheran Science Campaign to name the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Teaching and Research Lab. The NMR Lab will allow students and faculty unprecedented access to research design and implementation as well as improved opportunities for scientific grant funding, research and publication results. Students interested in chemical synthesis and catalysis as well as computerized modeling will benefit from access to this laboratory, developing the skills needed to pursue career paths in analytical chemistry and instrumentation. The foundation, which was established in 1988 to advance education in California, previously provided a grant for the Hugh and Hazel Darling Distance Learning Laboratory in the Spies-Bornemann Center for Education and Technology, as well as a $250,000 gift for renovations to the Pearson Library.
