The Mail Center delivers to all departments in the morning and usually departs the Mail Center at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. on chapel days. There will also be special deliveries and pick-ups for larger items throughout the day. The Mail Center tries to stay on a specific time schedule; however, situations may cause the Mail Center to vary from these schedules. Check with your route person to get an approximate time for delivery and pick-up of departmental mail. Mail picked up from a department on campus going to another department on campus is generally delivered in the next delivery on campus. Unforeseen circumstances sometimes makes the turn around time longer, i.e. malfunctioning equipment, incorrect mail codes, personnel shortages, departmental mass mailings, etc. All large mailings and boxes that can not fit in the mail cart must be picked up on a special run. Contact the Mail Center to set up a special run for this type of mail.
The Mail Center relies upon the United States Postal Service and by working within their schedule it dictates ours. Incoming mail from the USPS is put on a postal truck at approximately 12:00 to 12:30 p.m. and subsequently delivered to CLU around 1:00 p.m. While the schedule is their standard, delivery times may differ because of volume, personnel changes, and weather. Outgoing mail is picked up by the USPS around 4:00 p.m., and by the presort company, Business Mailing Service, around 3:30 p.m. For same day processing, all mail is to be at the Mail Center by the specific pick-up time. We will assist, if possible, to accommodate late drops and emergencies.
Bulk mail is taken to the U.S. Post Office by departmentally selected vendors. The Mail Center has on file professional and pre-qualified vendors for your bulk mail needs if you do not already have one. * Note: The Mail Center does not provide bulk mail services, however, does issue PO#'s for approved bulk mailings. The USPS will not accept any CLU bulk mailing without the presence of an approved PO#.
