Probation, Sentencing Law and Policies and Practices in the State of California

After serving as a deputy public defender, Lonzo Lucas returned to private practice before his appointment to the bench. Judge Lucas presided over misdemeanor trials, preliminary hearings, small claims disputes, civil litigation and civil jury trials until his retirement. He is a member of the faculty at California Judicial College in Berkeley, Calif. Co-author of Rough Side of the Mountain, Lucas also lectures and performs counseling and consultation.
