Heidi Valencia Vas, soprano

Latin Out of Bounds

Soprano Heidi Valencia Vas presents a concert of Latin-inspired favorites featuring works by de Falla, Canteloube and Villa-Lobos. Vas will explore traditional soprano repertoire and delve into mezzo-soprano and non-classical works.

The versatile soprano and CLU adjunct faculty member enjoys pushing the boundaries of genre. In addition to her opera, recital and oratorio credits, she has been featured in summer stock, regional and off-Broadway theatrical productions. Vas has been a featured soloist with The Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra and made guest appearances with the New Rochelle Opera, the Palm Springs Opera Guild, Masterworks Chorale, Vox Consort and the Amherst Early Music Festival and on the Concordia Master Series.

Vas received her dramatic acting and speech training at Stella Adler Conservatory of Acting in New York City. She earned music degrees at Westminster Choir College and the University of Southern California, where she also taught.

In 2007 she released her debut album, Reflections, recorded with the Budapest Symphony. That summer her first single was a top 10 hit on the ACQB adult contemporary chart. She currently tours with her ensemble, teaches voice, sings with Areté Vocal Ensemble, and works in studio on her second album due out this spring. In addition to her faculty position at CLU, she is the music director at La Reina High School and the co-founding director of the CLU Summer Vocal Institute.
