34th Annual Conejo Valley CROP Hunger Walk/Food Drive at CLU

Manna Food Drive: Monday, March 5 - Thursday, March 8. Drop Off Boxes: Church Relations and University Relations Offices, 9-5 p.m. Each item contributes $1 toward Crop Walk total.

More than 2,000 communities across the country hold walks each year to raise funds for international relief and development and world hunger. A walk for the world is also a walk for community charities because 25 percent of what is raised remains in the Conejo to assist four charities: Manna, Meals on Wheels (Conejo and Westlake) and Lutheran Social Services. The remainder goes to help people around the world struggling to feed their families.

CROP is an arm of Church World Service (CWS), an organization which designates where the funds are to be used in the world. In any kind of catastrophic event, CWS is able to step in and help survivors because of the funds raised by CROP walks.

Walkers receive an envelope for donations which they bring to registration. Donations can also be handled online by credit card at www.cropwalkonline.org. You can boost CLU Crop Walk totals by donating canned goods during the week of March 5 through March 8. Get the word out for collection of Manna food drive! If you are not walking, you can also help support a walker by writing a check made out to CROP Walk. In 2011, the Conejo Valley CROP Hunger Walk had more than 700 walkers and raised over $54,000. The 2012 Goal is $55,000. No minimum donation is required to participate, but the suggested minimum fundraising goal is $25 per walker. No dogs, bikes or skates allowed.

How to join the CLU team and/or donate:

1.     Enter and search ZIP code 91360 at www.cropwalkonline.org.

2.     Click on Conejo Valley CROP Hunger Walk 2012.

3.     Click on Sign Up. On the following page, click I Want to Join a Team.

4.     From there, locate California Lutheran University and you will have the option to donate or join the CLU team. Walkers may choose a six-mile or four-mile walk through the community, or a brief campus stroll.
