Opera Singer and Pianist Performance

In Conjunction with Gotta Dance! Poster Exhibition

Opera Singer and Pianist Performance

The William Rolland Gallery of Fine Art has joined forces with New West Symphony to bring you a musical performance for "Gotta Dance! The Art of the Dance Movie Poster from the Mike Kaplan Collection." Gotta Dance! is a special exhibition of vintage film posters.

Laurie Rubin will sing songs from a selection of films represented in posters from the exhibition, such as An American in Paris and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. She will be accompanied by pianist Jennifer Taira.

In addition, Rubin will share selections from her new memoir, Do You Dream in Color? Insights From a Girl Without Sight, that touches on her complex relationship with the color spectrum and chronicles her rise from a blind musical prodigy to an accomplished international opera singer.

More than 40 distinct pieces of varying sizes and rarity comprise Gotta Dance! The majority are from the Golden Age of Movie Poster Design (1930-1950), many from various international origins.

Free and open to the public. No reservations required, but seating is on a first come, first served basis and expected to fill up quickly.
