Jumbo Wild

Documentary film screening

Jumbo Wild

Nestled in the Purcell Mountains of British Columbia, Jumbo Valley (Qat'muk) is a glacial wilderness beloved by nature enthusiasts and sacred to the Ktunaxa First Nation people. This area is an important wildlife corridor, especially for threatened grizzly bear populations. It is also the site of a passionately contested proposal for a four-season mega ski resort, which, if built, would compromise the natural and spiritual integrity of this region. This 60-minute film, sponsored by Patagonia outdoor gear company, documents the struggle of local residents to keep this area wild.

This Earth Week film screening will take place in Overton Hall on the Thousand Oaks campus of California Lutheran University.
