"Leading with a Community Cultural Wealth Approach, Reclaiming Our Past, Reimagining Our Future”

EDUCAL 2023 Annual Symposium

Our keynote speaker, Tara Yosso, PhD, will discuss her community cultural wealth model, a paradigm shift in traditional thought about schooling structures, practices and discourse. The session will focus on how to foster a critical historical perspective of the communities we serve, drawing on the ingenuity and courage of those who have come before us in the struggle for justice so we can mobilize beyond the buzzwords of diversity, equity and inclusion to cultivate a community of praxis.

Yosso, a professor in the School of Education at UC Riverside, will present a keynote talk titled "Leading with a Community Cultural Wealth Approach: Reclaiming Our Past, Reimagining Our Future." Yosso, whose research and teaching apply critical race theory and critical media literacy to educational access and opportunity, will discuss her community cultural wealth model — a shift in thinking about school structures, practices and discourse that goes beyond the buzzwords of diversity, equity and inclusion.

The event is free. Registration required.
