Special Entry for the University Honors Program

The University Honors Program is offered on an invitation-only basis to incoming students with superior academic credentials. If you would like to be a part of the program but were not invited, you can still apply for special entry.

Special entry will be considered on a case-by-case basis. It is contingent on your qualifications and available space in the program.

Who can apply for special entry?
Incoming First-Year
Deadline: June 1

Required application materials:

1. An official high school transcript shoing a weighted GPA of at least 3.75 or any one of the following: 27 ACT Composite, 1280 RSAT Composite, 1250 SAT Composite

2. Completion of the online application which includes a brief personal statement describing your motivation and qualifications. This application will allow you to share the other required application materials -- all previously submitted with your application for admission to Cal Lutheran -- with the Director of the University Honors Program.

Transfer students
Deadline: June 1

Required application materials:

  1. Official college transcript showing a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
  2. A personal statement describing your motivation and qualifications, and identifying any honors courses taken at previous institutions
  3. A letter of reference from a college faculty member
Current students before the start of their sophomore year
Deadline: March 1

Required application materials:

  1. Official Cal Lutheran transcript showing fall GPA of 3.5 or higher and spring midterm grade report
  2. A personal statement describing your motivation and qualifications
  3. A letter of reference from a Cal Lutheran faculty member
