About Continuing & Professional Education

The Continuing and Professional Education department provides opportunities for continued learning through courses, workshops and programs which are not normally part of either an undergraduate or graduate degree program. These opportunities are designed for professional training, skill enhancement and personal enrichment. Formal admission to the university is not required for enrollment and there is no limit to the number of courses a person may take.

Education Credit Courses (EDUC Units)

All teachers are advised to consult their school district salary allocation departments and/or union bargaining agreements for semester unit and workload salary point equivalencies prior to registering for CLU education courses for credit. These equivalencies vary by school district. CLU offers a Professional Education Semester Credit, which carries a workload of 15 contact hours per semester credit, with outside assignments at the discretion of the instructor.

Non-Credit Courses (NCR)

Persons enrolling in these courses will earn no credit and will receive no grade.  Participants may not claim credit or challenge the course for credit at a later date.  Admission to the University is not required and there is no limit of the number of non-credit courses a person may take.
