Meet the Staff
Kathi graduated from CSU, Northridge with a BA in Child Development. She also has a Master’s in Teaching, and has worked in the Early Childhood Education field for over 20 years in a variety of positions. She worked for GPCDC/Patagonia for almost 15 years as a teacher and Preschool Director. She is currently working as an Early Interventionist with Seaside Speech Therapy and as an Adjunct Instructor in Child Development at Moorpark College. She loves guiding new teachers in the ECE field. She has been married to her husband Bryon for 15 years and they have an 8-year-old son, Adam. She enjoys reading, camping, swimming and spending time with her family. Kathryn believes in providing families with positive experiences and environments that will enrich children’s lives as well as give them the support they need during early childhood.
Julia loves kids! She has worked in the field of child care for 24 years. She has been with Fredrickson Family Early Childhood Center since 2016. Julia is a Southern California native with 7 brothers and sisters and is committed to her faith. She enjoys biking, hiking, concerts, traveling and most of all, drinking tea. Married to husband Ray since 1999, they are raising their two sons, Matt and Mike and daughter Catherine to be kind and to love life. She is so excited to be part of the CLU family.
Ligia was born in Costa Rica, but has lived in California since 1981. She has worked at our center since 2000. She particularly likes her new home in the infant room. Ligia has been happily married since 1985 and has two sons; both graduates of California Lutheran University.
Heidi has been studying and working in the Early Childhood Education Field for 7 years, and considers it a great privilege to be a part of our Preschool Team. She has been married to her husband for for 30 years, and has 2 grown children; a daughter, and a son who attends CLU. In her free time she loves to read and to knit.
Shelly works in our toddler room. She is happily married to her husband, Guy. They have two grown sons and 2 young grandchildren. Shelly has been caring for children for over 30 years, and holds an AA Degree in Child Development from Moorpark College. In her free time, she loves to do crafts and crochet.
Jenni teaches the 4 & 5 year-old class at the Fredrickson Family Early Childhood Center. She graduated from CLU with a Liberal Arts degree in 1996 and has taught at the center since 1996. Jenni is married to Brian McCoy and together they have two daughters; Ashley and Brittany. Both of her girls started their education at the 'House on the Hill" and she very much loves teaching here every day!
Cheryl has worked in the Early Childhood field for over 16 years and has been with the Fredrickson Family Early Childhood Center for over 5 years. She has 3 adult children; both of her daughters are graduates of CLU. Cheryl continues to work toward her BA degree and enjoys reading, watching old movies, and cross stitching.
Charlene has taught children since 1989 and has worked at our center since 2002. Charlene grew up and attended schools in Southern California. She has an AS Degree in Early Childhood Development and maintains a Master Teacher certificate with the state of California. Charlene grew up and attended school in Southern California, and has been married to Brian for over 30 years. They have a daughter who graduated from CLU in 2007.
Sofia is one of our loving, nurturing Infant Teachers. She has many years experience in the Early Childhood field and has worked at the FFECC since 2006. She and Bruce have been married for over 35 years and have two adult children; TJ and Theresa. Her hobbies include spending time with her grandson, Wyatt, and working with her parents at the family winery in San Luis Obispo.
Faten has been teaching at the Fredrickson Family Early Childhood Center since 2000. She is married and has two children, Matthew and Mary. She has a BA in English Literature and has many courses in Early Childhood education. She enjoys the outdoors and particularly likes to work in the garden, here at school and at home.
Ashley has worked at CLU since 2008. She obtained her Bachelor's degree from the University of La Verne and is currently working on her Master's in Education. The opportunity to work with these young children brings tremendous joy and lightheartedness. She devotes most of her free time to her husband David and son Oliver. Outside of the school, her happiest moments are usually cozy at home with her two favorite boys.
Trish was born in Canada and immigrated with her two sons to California in 2008 to join her husband, John Shannon. Trish has worked in a variety of capacities in the Early Childhood Education field for over 30 years in Canada, Zambia and here in the US. She feels blessed to call the 3’s program her new ‘home’ at the Fredrickson Family Early Childhood Center.
Maggie has worked at the center since 2001 and has taught all age groups. Maggie currently works in our four year old classroom. Maggie has a Bachelor's Degree from Cal State Northridge with an emphasis in Early Childhood Development. She has lived in southern California her entire life and is a "true" California girl. She enjoys surfing, participating in half marathons, and spending time with her family.
Hafiza taught preschool in Santa Barbara for eight years before joining our center. She currently holds her BA in Liberal Studies, with an emphasis on Early Childhood Education. Hafiza lives with her husband, Bryce, and their four children, Finnley, Zoey, Keagan, and Callan. In her free time, Hafiza enjoys spending time playing with her family.
Jim is one of our afternoon outdoor classroom teachers and our resident gardener. He has worked at CLU since 2012, has an AS Degree in Early Childhood Development and a BA Degree in Biological Science from UCSB. He has been married to his wife for over 30 years, and they have 3 grown children. He enjoys researching genealogy, reading stories, being outdoors, nurturing children, and gardening at home, at our school and at the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden.
She has an A.S. degree in Child Development and holds a Child Development Teacher permit. She has served as an Early Care Assistant Teacher for the Conejo Valley Neighborhood for Learning. Heidi has been married for twenty two years and has two adult sons. She enjoys working with young children and is very excited to be with us at the Center.
Tiffany received her B.A. from UCSD in Human Development and served as a Preschool teacher at Camp Amgen before becoming a Nanny. Tiffany has two boys and both were students at FFECC with her youngest son here this school year. Tiffany is excited to be part of the Center and feels very fortunate to care for your children.
