Meet the Staff

Mrs. Kathryn

Kathi graduated from CSU, Northridge with a BA in Child Development. She has a Master’s in Teaching, and has worked in the Early Childhood Education field for over 20 years in a variety of positions. She worked for GPCDC/Patagonia for 15 years as a teacher and Preschool Director.  She has worked as an Early Interventionist with Seaside Speech Therapy and is an Adjunct Instructor in Child Development at Moorpark College.  She loves guiding new teachers in the ECE field.  She has been married to her husband Bryon for 16 years and they have an 10-year-old son, Adam. She enjoys reading, camping, swimming and spending time with her family.  Kathryn believes in providing families with positive experiences and environments that will enrich children’s lives as well as give them the support they need during early childhood.
Mrs. Julia

Julia loves kids! She has worked in the field of child care for 24 years.  She has been with Fredrickson Family Early Childhood Center since 2016.  Julia is a Southern California native with 7 brothers and sisters and is committed to her faith.  She enjoys biking, hiking, concerts, traveling and most of all, drinking tea.  Married to husband Ray since 1999, they are raising their two sons, Matt and Mike and daughter Catherine to be kind and to love life. She is so excited to be part of the CLU family.
Mrs. Ligia

Ligia was born in Costa Rica, but has lived in California since 1981. She has worked at our center since 2000. She particularly likes her new home in the infant room. Ligia has been happily married since 1985 and has two sons; both graduates of California Lutheran University.
Mrs. Heidi

Heidi has been studying and working in the Early Childhood Education Field for 7 years, and considers it a great privilege to be a part of our Preschool Team. She has been married to her husband for for 30 years, and has 2 grown children; a daughter, and a son who attends CLU. In her free time she loves to read and to knit.
Mrs. Shelly

Shelly’s love for children is reflected in everything she does. She has worked at the center since 2012. Before that she ran her own Child Care/Preschool business in her home for 25 years. She holds an AA degree in Child Development from Moorpark College and a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education from USU. She married to her best friend, Guy, in 1985. Their two children are married and have brought grandchildren into her life that are a constant source of adventure and joy.
Mrs. Jenni

Jenni teaches the 4 & 5 year-old class at the Fredrickson Family Early Childhood Center. She graduated from CLU with a Liberal Arts degree in 1996 and has taught at the center since 1996. Jenni is married to Brian McCoy and together they have two daughters; Ashley and Brittany. Both of her girls started their education at the 'House on the Hill" and she very much loves teaching here every day!
Mrs. Faten

Faten has been teaching at the Fredrickson Family Early Childhood Center since 2000. She is married and has two children, Matthew and Mary. She has a BA in English Literature and has many courses in Early Childhood education. She enjoys the outdoors and particularly likes to work in the garden, here at school and at home.
Mrs. Ashley

Ashley started teaching at our Center back in 2008 when it was known as the 'House on the Hill'. For the first 10 years, she spent her time teaching in the 3's classroom. Since then, she has dedicated her time, and heart, to the infant room. The opportunity to work with these young children brings tremendous joy and lightheartedness to each day. Ashley obtained a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies from the University of La Verne.  She devotes most of her free time to her husband David and sons, Oliver and Emmitt.  Outside of the school, her happiest moments are usually cozy at home with her three favorite boys.
Mrs. Trish

Trish was born in Canada and immigrated with her two sons to California in 2008 to join her husband, John Shannon.  Trish has worked in a variety of capacities in the Early Childhood Education field for over 30 years in Canada, Zambia and here in the US.  She feels blessed to call the 3’s program her new ‘home’ at the Fredrickson Family Early Childhood Center.
Mrs. Maggie

Maggie joined the Fredrickson Family Early Childhood Center when it was still known as the “House on the Hill” in 2001. Since then, she has gone on to facilitate programs for children from ages six months to five years. She believes in providing an enriching environment in which young children are able to grow and develop. Maggie values spending time with family and friends. Some of her other interests are traveling, reading, and hiking. She has over twenty years experience in teaching young children. Maggie has a BA Degree in Human Growth and Development from California State University Northridge and an AA in Liberal Arts from Moorpark College. She is currently studying for her Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education at University of Colorado Denver.
Mrs. Hafiza

Hafiza teaches in the four and five year old classroom. She has worked with children since 2002, she taught in Santa Barbara prior to joining our center. She currently holds her Bachelors of Arts with an emphasis in Early Childhood Development, from Antioch University.  In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband Bryce and their four children. 
Mrs. Jenn

Mrs. Jenn received her Bachelors of Arts degree from Santa Clara University in 1995 and her Multiple Subject teaching credential from Cal State Hayward in 1996. She taught Elementary school for 10 years in the Bay Area before relocating to Southern California with her husband Matt. She then stayed at home raising her 3 children; Sean, Teia and Anya.  In 2013, she went back to the classroom teaching Kindergarten and First grade. She started here at the Center in August 2018.  She is currently a full-time teacher in the Infant room and she just loves the babies! She lives in Moorpark and loves to travel, bake and spend time in the outdoors (hiking, kayaking and paddle boarding).
Mrs. Heidi G.

Heidi has an A.S. degree in Child Development and holds a Child Development Teacher permit. She has served as an Early Care Assistant Teacher for the Conejo Valley Neighborhood for Learning. Heidi has been married for twenty two years and has two adult sons.  She enjoys working with young children and is very excited to be with us at the Center.
Mrs. Yvanna

Yvanna loves children! She has worked in the early childhood education field for 13 years. Yvanna has been married to her husband Leonel since 2009. They enjoy spending time with their wonderful son and two lovely daughters. She enjoys reading, attending concerts, gardening and doing crafts with her kids. Yvanna is so excited to be part of the CLU family.

Substitute Teachers

Mrs. Elaine

Elaine has worked in Early Childhood Education for over 35 years . She has worked at the Fredrickson Family ECC since 1982, as a teacher, the Director and now as a Substitute. She has been married for over 45 years and has three grown children who have blessed her with beautiful grandkids. Elaine loves to read, spend time outdoors with her family and volunteer with a variety of service ministries. She will always be grateful and joyful for being a small part of this preschool family.
Mrs. Miriam

Miriam Nakayama has been a teacher at the Callutheran early childhood center since 1986. She retired in 2018 but needed her”kid fix” and returned to the FFECC as soon as she could. She has taught all ages from junior college students in Japan to infants here at our center, but her people are 2 year olds. As a substitute she enjoys being with all ages!
Mrs. Sophea

Miss Sophea (pronounced with a /p/ not an /f/) has been working with young children her entire life and is currently in school obtaining her Bachelor’s degree. She earned her Associated degree in Early Childhood Education at Moorpark College in 2018. Her interpersonal strengths are empathy, patience, kindness, hardworking, positive outlook, and she is a quick learner. She enjoys encouraging children to develop their perceptual, cognitive, motor, and social skills to reach their potential. She is very creative, enjoys sewing, cooking, and growing flowers and vegetables.
Mrs. Tiffany

Tiffany received her B.A. from UCSD in Human Development and served as a Preschool teacher at Camp Amgen before becoming a Nanny. Tiffany has two boys and both were students at FFECC. Tiffany is excited to be part of the Center and feels very fortunate to care for your children.
