Violent Serial Offending Patterns: A Psychological and Forensics Perspective

This undergraduate presentation explores violent serial offending through the combined lenses of criminal psychology and forensic investigation. Through a series of case studies, the presenters will examine how psychological risk factors interact with investigative techniques such as crime scene documentation, evidentiary processing, and offender profiling. This project emphasizes how cross-disciplinary approaches can help identify patterns in serial offending and inform investigative and preventative strategies.

Violent Serial Offending Patterns: A Psychological and Forensics Perspective

This presentation reviews the cross-disciplinary analysis of violent serial offending patterns through a Forensic Investigation and Criminal Psychology lens.
The purpose of this presentation is to analyze how psychological risk factors—such as background, social deviance, trauma exposure—interact with forensic investigative procedures used to identify, apprehend, and ultimately prevent criminal behavior.
Through a comprehensive case study analysis, we identify variables that are replicated among serial offenders and compile them with investigative methods such as crime scene documentation, evidentiary processing, and offender profiling in order to trace patterns in criminal escalation.
