Alternative Spring Break offers students the opportunity to engage in meaningful service-learning experiences through immersive domestic and international travel. In partnership with nonprofit organizations and local communities, participants contribute to community-identified initiatives while gaining a deeper understanding of the social, cultural, environmental, and economic issues that shape the places they visit. Each experience is intentionally designed to foster learning through service, encouraging students to engage with communities in ways that are collaborative, respectful, and grounded in mutual learning.

Whether traveling across the country or around the world, Alternative Spring Break extends beyond traditional volunteerism by combining service, education, and reflection. Participants have the opportunity to learn directly from community members, nonprofit leaders, and local organizations while exploring the history, culture, and unique strengths of each community. Throughout the experience, students are encouraged to reflect on their own identities, values, and responsibilities as engaged citizens while considering how they can continue creating positive change after returning to campus.

Alternative Spring Break is more than a week of service. It is an opportunity to develop as a leader, build meaningful relationships, and expand your understanding of communities beyond your own. Students return with new perspectives, lasting friendships, and a renewed commitment to civic engagement, social responsibility, and creating meaningful change both within their own communities and beyond.
