Training and Continuing Education

CITIMandatory online training is required for all faculty, staff, and student personnel listed on animal research and teaching protocols. The IACUC requires verification of completed training for all listed personnel.

Training will consist of at least two courses including "Working with the IACUC" (Basic training module) and a species-specific module.

These requirements apply to all faculty researchers, research staff, student researchers, faculty advisors, visitors or any other individuals who conduct research activities with animals.

Animal Subjects Research Training

Protection of animal subjects training is required every three (3) years and must be completed through The Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program.

All faculty, staff, and student personnel listed on animal research and teaching protocols should complete the CITI course for "Working with the IACUC" and a Species Specific Module.

In order to maintain CITI certification, a refresher course must be completed every three years.  Training certificates must be current, within the last 3 years, to be accepted.
