Do international students need to take the Duolingo, TOEFL or IELTS?
If English is not your native or primary language, you need to provide one of the following as documentation of your English proficiency:

  • English proficiency test: Duolingo (105 or higher), TOEFL (550 or higher), IELTS (6.5 or higher), Pearsons PTE (58 or higher)
  • Academic English Instruction: Students who have received a significant amount of their academic instruction in English will be required to submit their school's academic profile together with their official transcripts and will be exempt from further English proficiency requirements. This includes students who have completed 30 units (including English Composition) at a U.S. college or university and students who have attended 4 years of high school instruction in English.

Please see Admission Requirements for International Students.

Do international students studying at a U.S. high school have to submit an English exam?
If you are attending a U.S. high school, you may be eligible for a waiver. Please contact the undergraduate office of admission.

What is the required Duolingo, TOEFL, IELTS, PTE score for admission?
Please see Admission Requirements for International Students.

Is the SAT/ACT required for admission?
CLU is test optional for all applicants. For international students an additional interview (virtual) may be required if you choose to apply without the SAT/ACT. Applicants will be considered for scholarships if they apply test optional or with SAT/ACT.

Can I find out if I am eligible to be admitted to CLU before I submit an application?
Unfortunately we are not able to provide an offiical acceptance until we have received a complete application. We can provide counseling and consultation on your overall application strength, especially if you are a transfer applicant. Please email intladmission@callutheran.edu if you would like to speak with a counselor about your application.

Do I need to submit all the application materials together at the same time?
No, all application materials do not need to be submitted at the same time. We will collect them as they are submitted but we cannot make a decision until our office has received all documents.

Can I submit photocopies of my transcripts?
No. You must submit original copies of transcripts. If they are not in English, the original transcripts must be accompanied by a certified translation.
