Helping Faculty and Staff Manage Student Mental Health Concerns
All faculty and Staff welcome!
Join us for lunch and a 90-minute webinar by Dr. Greg Eells, the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services at Cornell University. Dr. Eells will discuss the changing roles and expectations of today's higher education consumers and the importance of having an inward focus that incorporates self-reflection rather than focusing more exclusively on meeting external demands. Afterward, our own Ginny Maril will be there for a 30-minute Q&A to answer questions in regards to our campus' mental health services. 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be served.
As a result of this webinar, you will be able to:
- Understand issues related to mental health – mitigate potential frustration.
- Articulate a student development model that focuses on higher education values rather than only on meeting external expectations – help your faculty and staff stay true to your mission while also providing strong customer service.
- Discuss changing expectations of students, parents and millennial students/employees – meet their needs without overtaxing your faculty and staff.
- Implement effective strategies to set expectations and establish a healthier educational environment.
- Employ additional strategies to prevent burnout of faculty and staff – be proactive to avoid frustration and misunderstandings.
