CLU Fall Cultural Dance Festival 2019

Swing Dance with Sandi Patterson

Experience Swing with Sandi Patterson. Swing Dance is an American dance form which encompasses a variety of individual dances. It is rooted in the Charleston and Lindy and branched out to include Balboa, Carolina Shag, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing and Jive. Patterson will take participants on a 90-minute tour of 100 years of Swing Dance through mini lectures, demonstration and practice.

Patterson completed her master’s thesis in dance history and has taught a variety of dance forms since 1975 for educational and recreational institutions including Moorpark College, Cal Lutheran, and Cal State Northridge.

This masterclass is brought to campus through the Department of Theater and Dance and an Experiential Learning Grant from the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Scholarship. Free to all. No experience required. Please arrive by 2 p.m. Activities begin at 2:15 and conclude at 3:45. Come dressed to move!​
