Message from the Dean

Gerhard Apfelthaler We live in exciting times. Globally, people are witnessing rapid technological changes, economic fluctuation, internationalization, political, demographic and societal shifts, and many other trends. These developments impact whole societies and, ultimately, universities and business schools.

Since its founding, Cal Lutheran's School of Management has always put students first. Striving to serve our mission to produce graduates who are well prepared to succeed in their personal and professional lives, we have continually developed our program portfolio.

Today, the School offers three undergraduate programs, and graduate programs that range from a Master of Business Administration program with multiple professional tracks to offerings in Financial Planning, Quantitative Economics, Public Policy and Public Administration, Information Systems and Technology, and Computer Science.

In order to provide our students with the flexibility they need, many of our programs are offered in a multitude of formats including afternoon, evening, weekend, online, and travel formats. We have added world-class faculty members, and we have globalized the classroom by increasing the number of international students from a large spectrum of countries.

Our Centers, the Center for Values and Leadership, the Center for Economic Research and Forecasting and the California Institute of Finance generate world-class research and provide services to the wider community, and we have started a number of exciting initiatives for entrepreneurs and start-ups.

Our efforts do not end here. As we are committed to prepare our students for sustained success, we are continually working to innovate and improve. We listen to our students, our alumni, the business community and society in general, and we invite you to get involved and stay involved!

Gerhard Apfelthaler, Ph.D.
