New Venture Competition 2017
Finals 2017!
Thursday, April 27, 2017
Hosted by the School of Management Center for
Entrepreneurship, the Cal Lutheran New Venture Competition (NVC) is an opportunity for students to experience the challenge of launching a start-up
business. Student teams have been working very hard on their business ideas for months,
with the support of Cal Lutheran faculty and mentors from the community.
In the NVC Finals, five selected teams will give presentations on the merits of their business opportunities.
A panel of distinguished judges will ask questions, give feedback, and award cash
prizes to each team. Audience members will vote for a special people's choice award. Join us for what is becoming a Cal Lutheran tradition and a launchpad for many successful
start-up's.
Announcing the New Venture Competition Finalist Teams
New Venture Competition finalist teams are selected from: 1) students enrolled in entrepreneurship courses, 2) the Cal Lutheran Student Entrepreneurship Club, and 3) students who have pursued their own startup ideas independently. The teams are selected by the faculty of the Center Entrepreneurship. This year's finalists are:
- Barter - Social networking
- ChorStor - Chore management for parents and children
- HypoxAware - Alerts airplane pilots to in-flight health issues
- SoleFit - Prevents foot injuries
- Startup Kids - Entrepreneurship education for primary school students
All of the teams have invested much time and effort in their startup ideas. Please join us this Thursday to see them compete for cash and in-kind prizes. We'll also feature a pitch from a student team from Westlake Elementary, and an update from last year's NVC winner Coding Autism. While the judges are deliberating, we'll be serving Urbane Cafefor dinner. All guests will also have a voice in selecting the People's Choice Award winner!
