Is there someone who has had a strong, positive impact on your life? A mentor who has supported you, just as you and OMG W.O.W are providing to so many women?

I've had some significant mentors in my professional career and personal life. However, my mother has been the best mentor. She gives me my inspiration. A mentor is defined as someone who is an experienced and trusted adviser. My mother is that and more.  Not only has she been a significant role model for me, but she is also someone who takes time to give to everyone around her.  My mother has provided me with guidance, advice, feedback, and support throughout my life and has especially supported my career goals. She has provided resources such as references and financial support when I needed it the most. My mother is my true shero! It's because of her, that I am taking this journey to support other Black women.

More than ever, young women and young women of color are standing and owning their own space. How encouraging and empowering is that to see from your perspective?

It's encouraging to know that Black women can stand and own their space. However, it's important that Black women are valued and included.  Black women face an equity gap. According to the Goldman Sachs research "Black Womenomics" dated March 9, 2021, that gap is due to complex historical factors and ongoing discrimination. Black women remain heavily disadvantaged across a broad range of economic measures, including wealth, earnings, and health.  So, it is important to inform the community so that they can recognize the need to support them in these areas that have been marginalized and excluded. OMG W.O.W. purposes to dismantle the structures that push Black women backwards by providing resources to push them forward. We are doing this by providing resources, education, and mentorship directed to helping them achieve more wealth targeting outcomes centered on bridging the equity gap.  What would you like to see next from these women?  Black women and their communities are asking for education, resources, and mentorships to help them reach their goals. Members of OMG W.O.W.'s revolutionary program "F.R.E.S.H". takes a fresh approach to teaching concepts in Finance, Relationships, Entrepreneurship, Spirituality, and Health through group classes, 1:1 mentorship, and educational content. Our inaugural program masterclass teaches participants how to start and maintain a successful business. The program includes educating on topics like leadership, developing a business plan, marketing strategy, brand, and 5-year-goal.

What about OMG W.O.W is special to you, what would you like our readers to know?

While the entrepreneurship curriculum is special, all by itself, OMG W.O.W. goes the extra mile, offering something you typically will not see in other business development programs which is the ability for our participants to collaborate with superstar mentors, who not only excel as entrepreneurs, but are thought leaders in all of the F.R.E.S.H. areas. So, each of our participants get help from experts centered on empowering them with finance, relationship, entrepreneurship, spirituality, and health advice they need for the entire training period. With this additional knowledge and support Black women have a better chance of business success. I only wish that I had the opportunity to experience the mentorship and education that OMG W.O.W. offers when I was starting my business years ago. I am confident that the women who work with our organization will experience elevation in their professional and personal lives".

How has the Center for Nonprofit Leadership been an asset to you and your organization?

The Center for Nonprofit Leadership has been an incredible learning and growth resource for me. The extensive learning library is unparalleled. It has been an honor to be a part of the incredible workshops and training that have provided me with invaluable resources and opportunities to learn from experts about how to run and maintain a successful nonprofit organization. All of this has given me the confidence to do the things required to build a strong nonprofit, such as forming a functioning board and developing an incredible program. Furthermore, the center served as a hub for networking and making connections with other organizations and leaders. Dena Jenson, the center's Director, is an expert in nonprofit knowledge. She has been gracious by the giving of her time and the sharing of her resources. She has personally gone out of her way to support me and our organization. We are grateful.
