Exploring the CA Spanish Language Development Standards

This workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to understand the design and organization of California's new Spanish Language Development (SLD) standards and their relationship to the Common Core en Español and share ideas on how to use the new SLD standards for planning for Spanish learner instruction across content areas. The training will be in Spanish.

Sarah Peterson, M.Ed.Sarah Peterson

Sarah serves as Regional Director of the California Reading & Literature Project (CRLP) at UC San Diego. Her equity-centered work supports primary, dual language, secondary, and charter schools.

  • Ideas on how to use the new SLD standards for planning for Spanish learner instruction across content areas
  • Strategies to scaffold Spanish learner engagement, access, and achievement
  • How to utilize this knowledge to plan and deliver effective SLD lessons language programs
