KCLU FM presents Scott Simon
From Ground Zero in New York to ground zero in Kabul, to police stations, refugee camps, snipers’ roosts, subway platforms and theater stages, NPR’s Peabody Award-winning Scott Simon has reported from all 50 states and every continent.
In addition to serving as host of Weekend Edition Saturday, Simon has covered the war in Afghanistan, the siege of Sarajevo, the destruction of Kosovo, and the famine and prolonged civil war in Ethiopia. He has written for The New York Times Book Review and Op-Ed pages, the Wall Street Journal opinion and book page, The Los Angeles Times, Friends Journal and Gourmet Magazine.
Simon’s first book Home and Away: Memoir of a Fan, about baseball, topped The Los Angeles Times nonfiction bestseller list and was cited as one of the best books of 2000 in the Washington Post, Boston Globe and other publications. His novel Pretty Birds about teenage girls in war-torn Sarajevo was published in 2005. His second novel is a political comedy called Windy City.
Tickets are $15-$40 plus applicable service charges and are available through Ticketmaster or the Civic Arts Plaza box office. All proceeds go to support KCLU 88.3 FM in Ventura County and 102.3 FM in Santa Barbara County.
