Fall Blackbox Series

Student directed one-act plays

The Theatre Arts Department presents two student-directed one-act plays, Bright Ideas and Flooding the Grand.

Bright Ideas, by award-winning playwright Eric Coble, is a modern comedy which details the lengths parents will go to get their children into pre-school. Coble was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and raised on the Navajo and Ute reservations in New Mexico and Colorado. His plays have been produced off-Broadway and on four continents. Student director Chelsea Brown is a senior majoring in theatre arts.

Flooding the Grand, written by CLU senior Brigette Stevenson, is an exploration of the mysterious and fractured relationships of two sisters with their mother, nature, love and one another. Stevenson is majoring in English. The play is directed by Kaila Hochhalter, a senior majoring in theatre arts.

This evening of student-directed one-act plays inaugurates the newly converted theatre performance space in the old gymnasium (O.G.)

Admission is free.
