The Chuzai Identity of Japanese Wives

CLU sociology professor Akiko Yasuike examines the chuzai identity wives develop while living under village-like conditions in small isolated transnational corporate communities. The word “chuzai” means living overseas for an occupational assignment for an extended period. Yasuike’s study is based on in-depth interviews with 21 Japanese corporate wives who lived overseas for their husbands’ occupational assignments.
