Family Activism for Regional Community Problem-Solving
Roberto Vargas
Roberto Vargas is a nationally recognized leader in the field of leadership and organization development for proactive social benefit organizations. As a community organizer, therapist, university educator and principal consultant for New World Associates, Vargas has conducted community problem-solving, planning, and human development programs throughout the United States, Canada and Sweden.
In his recent book Family Activism: Empowering Your Community Beginning with Family and Friends, Vargas draws from personal experience to provide valuable tools for use among family and co-workers to support each other and advance the change we desire in our society. Vargas has a doctorate in public health and master’s in social work from the University of California at Berkeley.
This presentation is part of the Alma and Clifford Pearson Distinguished Speakers Series. The theme of the 2008-2009 series is regional collaboration.
