Mark your calendars for one of the most exciting events of the year!

School of Management Presents:

NextGen Cybersecurity with Symantec’s Leading Industry Expert Eric Chien

Learn about today’s cybersecurity landscape and how companies are using advanced machine learning and analytics to identify threats and targeted attacks across endpoints, infrastructure, and cloud.

Hijacked software, mobile malware, cryptojacking and ransomware are on the rise. Just recently, Facebook had a security breach that allowed hackers to access information about 50 million user accounts. Cybercrime damage costs are estimated to hit $6 trillion annually by 2021. How can organizations protect their data against targeted attacks? New and advanced technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence tools can be used to spot unusual patterns in large volumes of encrypted web traffic.

As shown in the movie “Zero Days," Stuxnet, one of the most malicious pieces of software the world has ever seen was discovered with the help of Symantec Cybersecurity Fellow Eric Chien in 2010. Symantec is the global leader in cybersecurity that operates one of the world’s largest cyber intelligence networks providing cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions to organizations, governments and consumers.

Eric Chien serves as a Fellow of Symantec’s Security Technology and Response division. In this role, Chien leads a deep analysis team of engineers that investigate and reverse-engineer the latest high-impact Internet security attacks – those that might hold clues to bigger trends developing or are otherwise of particular interest. Via these trends, he develops and drives novel security solutions to prevent and mitigate against the next big attack. As such, Chien was one of the lead authors of Symantec’s groundbreaking research on the revolutionary Stuxnet malware, and he has become one of the security industry’s foremost authorities on this threat. Prior to his current role, Chien played a pivotal role in developing Symantec’s 24/7 threat monitoring operations. He has been with Symantec since 1996.
