23rd Annual Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival

The 23rd season of the Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival concludes with Richard II performed by the Kingsmen Shakespeare Company.

Often called a philosopher king, Richard II was certain of his divine right to rule. His faulty leadership, however, gives opening to a challenge to his monarchy and leads to 100 years of dynastic civil war. The play is filled with some of Shakespeare’s most beautiful and thought-provoking poetry as well the poignant fall from power of one of his most memorable characters. Directed by Michael J. Arndt. 

The Kingsmen Shakespeare Company is the professional theater company of Cal Lutheran. The nonprofit organization coordinates apprentice programs for professional and aspiring Shakespearean actors, an educational tour for local schools, and summer theater camps for youth. 

Festival grounds open at 5:30 p.m. for pre-show picnicking and entertainment. General admission is $25 for adults, $20 for seniors 62 and over and active military, $15 for students 18 and over with ID, and free for children. Reserved lawn boxes are $90 to $110. A lawn box accommodates four to six, and only one ticket is required per box. Online ticketing is available for both lawn boxes and general admission. Parking is available in the lot off Mountclef Boulevard just south of Olsen Road.
