Scandinavian Film Evening: "Passage to Sweden"

Scandinavian Film Evening: "Passage to Sweden"

Passage To Sweden is a powerful and inspiring film that highlights courage and humanity during one of history’s darkest times. Set against the backdrop of WWII, the film focuses on the lesser-known events that took place in Scandinavia and Budapest, revealing how ordinary people and entire nations saved thousands of Jewish lives.

Between 1940 and 1945, geography and politics shaped vastly different experiences for Jews in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. As Jews were rounded up across occupied Europe, rescue efforts emerged in Scandinavia, defying Nazi forces. Don’t miss these remarkable stories of resistance. They are a powerful reminder how anyone can make a difference.

Special attention is paid to the Norwegian resistance, the citizens of Denmark, the Swedish Red Cross, Raoul Wallenberg and Count Folke Bernadotte. Risking their own lives, their selfless acts of courage and compassion is a powerful example of how anyone can make a difference.

Passage to Sweden is an inspiring film depicting decency, humanity and courage in a rare bright spot during the darkest of times. The film's director, Suzannah Warlick, will hold a Q&A after showing.

The film is free for all Cal Lutheran students, faculty and staff. All others may purchase a ticket in advance, $15, on Eventbrite. Seats are limited, but available tickets will be sold at the door.
