Michael A. Moffit Educational Leadership Lecture Series

The School of Education at California Lutheran University will inaugurate the Michael A. Moffitt Educational Leadership Lecture Series on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 4 p.m., in the Spies-Bornemann Center for Education and Technology, Room 140. The lecture, which will feature internationally renowned author and educator Brent Davies, Ph.D., is free and open to the public.

Currently the professor of leadership development at the University of Hull, Davies spent the first 10 years of his career working as a teacher in London. He ultimately moved into higher education, working exclusively on leadership and management development programs for senior and middle managers in schools before serving as director of the International MBA in School Leadership at Leeds Metropolitan University. He served as the first chair in educational leadership and created the International Educational Leadership Center at University of Lincolnshire.

A faculty member of the Center on Educational Governance at the University of Southern California, Davies also serves as a Professorial Fellow at the University of Melbourne, a Visiting Professor at the Institute of Education at the University of London, and a Special Professor at the University of Nottingham. He is the author of seven books, including Leading the Strategically Focused School and Success and Sustainability: Developing the strategically focused school.

The Michael A. Moffitt Educational Leadership Lecture Series was created in memory of Moffitt, an alumnus of CLU who passed away in 2004. The series, made possible by Karla Lysdal-Moffitt, was developed to provide students and local educators an opportunity to learn about educational leadership from seasoned professionals.
