Entrepreneur Speaker Series with James Werbe '23!

One of our alumni who we are proudest of, James Werbe '23, School of Management Young Alumnus of the Year 2025, was our featured speaker at the February Entrepreneur Speaker Series. James' own history was a great testimony to the title of his talk "Not all who wander are lost". In his early teens, James became fascinated by film and was so successful that he tested out of high school at the age of 16 in order to grow his film production company full time. After community college and starting as a Philosophy major at UCLA, he discovered Hub101. At Hub101 he had inspiring conversations with Mike Panesis and Kristin Bell that motivated him to transfer to Cal Lutheran, where he was an active participant in "all things entrepreneurship". Before he graduated from Cal Lutheran with an interdisciplinary major in Philosophy, Psychology, and Entrepreneurship, he also taught himself electrical engineering and founded Wayside Energy, a company that builds highly efficient energy storage solutions for utilities. James is the recipient of a large grant from the Dorfman Incubator Fund and he has also received a large grant from the California Department of Education for Wayside Energy. He is now building his first test installations, and we expect to hear a lot of great news from him in the future!
