Barcelona travel course!

In March, 10 undergraduate students participated in an intensive experiential learning program in Barcelona and Girona - an immersive experience that went far beyond a traditional travel seminar. Through a combination of coursework at the IAU Institute for American Universities and direct engagement with industry leaders, students explored how innovation and sustainability intersect across Catalonia’s most dynamic sectors, including food & wine, sports, and digital health. The program featured visits to seven companies and the LaSalle Technova campus, offering students firsthand exposure to real‑world business environments. Highlights included learning about organic viticulture at Alta Alella, examining the global business of sport with the Johan Cruyff Institute and entrepreneur and former professional cyclist, Rory Sutherland, and exploring cutting‑edge digital health innovation at the Barcelona Health Hub and Capital Cell. The experience culminated in a live consulting session at Aticco Ventures, organized by Friends of Bata, where students engaged directly with the CEO of Liseners and are now developing strategic proposals to address real challenges faced by startups today. This program exemplifies experiential learning at its best - bridging theory and practice while cultivating a truly global perspective for our students. Special thanks go to our colleague Carmina Bech-Segarra who organized the travel course, leveraged her network, and led the students during an unforgettable week!
