CERF breaks attendance record at annual forecasting event!

On February 24, our Center for Economic Research and Forecasting (CERF) held its annual Ventura County Forecast event at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza / Scherr Forum. With more than 400 RSVPs, this year's event with the title "Broken Inheritance - How Today’s Decisions Handicap the Next Generation" broke previous attendance records and, once again, it delivered. After networking over breakfast and a welcome by President John Nunes, invited keynote speaker Veronique de Rugy, Chair of Political Economy at George Mason University and nationally syndicated columnist discussed the economic and social costs of government debt, underscoring the critical importance of putting the country on a sound fiscal path. Matthew Fienup, Executive Director of CERF, then presented the 2026 Ventura County Economic Forecast publication, with in-depth analysis of the county’s economic performance, including  a focus on the state of Ventura County agriculture. The forecast held both good and bad news for the economy, but it certainly cemented CERF's status as a premier forecasting house in the USA. Thanks go Dan Hamilton, the "country's best forecaster", as he was called at a VIP Reception the night before the event, as well as staff members Ashley Freas, Rosie Baker, and Hana Peter for all their invaluable support!
